Smart develops scooter with an airbag

Beyond its, iconic design, 4kW electric motor chargeable through a conventional household power socket, battery allowing ranges up to 100 kilometers, solar cells on the front supporting the charging of the battery pack, the escooter  includes great safety features even rarely seen on today’s motorcycles. The scooter is equipped with an ABS (anti-lock braking system), a blind spot assistant, drawing attention to vehicles following close behind and an airbag integrated into the front panel, which is designed to be activated in case of a frontal impact, protecting the rider’s torso.

Similar to MINI’s E scooter concept, the escooter uses a smartphone as its control and communication center. The phone docked into the front panel is used as the speedometer, navigation and to display the battery and range information.
