Have you heard of the Moto-Grip? The product offers protection against accidental ejection of the motorcycle passenger. Whether it is a scooter or a motorcycle, most provide no backrest protection for the passenger.

The Moto-Grip is a safety harness equipped with two sets of padded handgrips on the front and rear of the harness. The harness is worn by the operator and the handgrips are held by the passenger.

The product designed by a NYC firm, Hatch Ventures,  is available in three sizes and each size is fully adjustable to accommodate additional outerwear for inclement weather riding.

The Sachs MadAss is a product of German Engineering. And, no, it is not manufactured by one of the companies that recently popped up with the scooter/moped boom. In fact, SFM GmbH, the manufacturer of MadAss, is one of the world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturers. The company, initially manufacturing only bicycles, started doing business as early as 1886. Moving to motorcycle production in the early 1900s, today they are still in business and known as the manufacturer of one of the coolest bikes in history, the MadAss!

Piaggio Group announces new Aprilia brand scooter, SR Max 125/300 for grand touring.

June 21, 2011, Piaggio Group, Press Release – SR Max is the new Aprilia scooter which brings the Piaggio Group racing brand into the grand touring segment. Available in the 125 cc or 300 cc version, SR Max puts the Aprilia sport spirit on the road for pure enjoyment and riding pleasure.

Aprilia SR Max interprets the performance and grit of the products from the Noale manufacturer in GT style: the scooter inspired by the racing world which guarantees top performance and great versatility is born.

SR Max, stands out at first glance. An aggressive design traced by taught lines reflects the sport nature of a vehicle which sets itself apart with style and an explosive shape.

The compact but light nose holds the aesthetic dynamism of the headlight assembly: A silver coloured grille is inserted between the two lights, a simple, thin screen which gives the SR Max 125 cc and 300 cc an energetic expression. Honda EV-neo

Honda announced last week that its zero emission, electric scooter, EV-neo, will make its European debut in Barcelona starting July 2011. For the demonstration program, Honda will provide Barcelona city council with 18 EV-neos for a year. Motorcycles account for 30% of vehicles in Barcelona, and a wide range of incentives already exist for electric vehicles in the city. The program will serve to test the EV-neo in European conditions.

The EV-neo is already available for sale in Japan for a price of 5750USD. Honda is expecting to sell 1000 units in Japan until the end of the year.

RYNO Motors‘ comes up with a self-balancing, one wheeled electric scooter. Its looks kind of resemble BPG Motor’s U3 in dicycle mode, but the design is yet more industrial, something I could imagine seeing in a Mad Max movie. This ongoing revolution in ground transporation technology makes me wonder what kind of crazy vehicles we will be seeing on the roads in a few years from now…

The estimated retail price for the Ryno scooter is around $3500, still much more expensive compared to a regular scooter, which can be purchased starting at $1000. Maximum speed is 25mph, you can go up to 35mph with a regular 50cc scoot. But on the other hand, this vehicle is all electric, so you don’t need to spend bucks on the gas. Also, it is light weight and small, so no need to worry about parking. The bike’s LiFePo4 battery has a charging time of 1.5hrs and a range up to 30 miles. Watch the video below to see how it works.

The Lake Erie Loop (LEL) provides a great opportunity for scooterists to have fun and race while supporting a good cause. The 650 mile endurance run around Lake Erie is to be completed within one day. Bikes under 225cc will be  able to compete for cash prizes and unlimited size bikes are allowed only for a fun run without any official competition.

The Lake Erie Loop  is a fundraising event to benefit the “Aluminum Cans for Burned Children” Foundation (ACBC). ACBC provides many services for pediatric burn victims, mostly through the donation of discarded aluminum cans. Since 2003, additional cash for ACBC is raised through motor-sports.

KYMCO will join this years AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days (July 22-24) with its demo scooter fleet. The event hosted by the American Motorcycle Association will be held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
